IMPROVING CENTENNIAL PARK

This project is focused on the Watagua loop in Centennial Park in Nashville, TN. It works to address the dangerous lack of lighting along the path as well as the underuse of certain areas within the park.

The solution proposed is based around the use of seating and lighiting to engage the space and to increase safety for patrons of the park.

SKETCHES

Starting with rough Ideation on location, I sketched out a selection of ideas, including the incorporation of a central sitting area as well as various benches throughout the loop looking out into the lake based upon observation of where people congregated within the park in these areas.

RENDERING

From these sketches, I used Sketch-up to create scaled models of the solutions proposed. From these models, I was able to create full rendered images.

FINAL RENDERS

Using Enscape, people and lighting was incorporated to show the different parts of the redesign in use.

Utilizing an infinity fountain and LED lights in tandem with built seating, this activation serves to give visitors more options for seating as well as add creative ways for them to interact within the space. The fountain itself it lit with 100 lights, pulling from the park’s namesake of centennial park.

Lighting incorporated onto the path for safety after dark, as well as lakeside bench seating.
